Dongola: Fire Department

We're part of our quiet little community... helping with local events and working to stay prepared. Well, it's quiet most of the time. When things happen here, they tend to happen in a big way.

A Killer tornado in the middle of the night... train wrecks... downtown fires... ice storms. The "inland hurricane" missed us by not that much. The Canadian National rail line from Chicago to New Orleans brings people and all sorts of chemicals through the middle of town. 

The Interstate highway connecting Chicago and Memphis also brings lots of traffic through the edge of town. The New Madrid Seismic Zone that shook all of North America 200 years ago is not far south of us.

Lessee... did we say we're a quiet community? Being prepared helps us cope with the various emergencies that do happen.
